Who We Are

Laptop Care (“we”, “us”) runs this website and is the data controller for the personal data described here. We handle it in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019. For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@laptopcare.co.ke or on WhatsApp at 0720 176 002.

What We Collect

• Account details — your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), or your Google profile name and email if you sign in with Google.
• Order details — the products you buy, amounts, delivery addresses and the phone number you use for M-Pesa.
• Payment confirmations — the M-Pesa or card payment reference returned to us. We never see or store your M-Pesa PIN or full card number.
• Preferences — your wishlist, and whether you opted in to marketing emails.
• Messages — anything you send us by email, WhatsApp or Instagram.

Why We Use It

• To create and secure your account, and process, deliver and support your orders — this is necessary to perform our contract with you.
• To keep records required by Kenyan tax and accounting law.
• To prevent fraud and keep the site secure — our legitimate interest.
• To send new arrivals and offers — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.

We do not sell your personal data.

Who We Share It With

Only with the service providers needed to run the shop, each bound to protect it:

• Safaricom (M-Pesa) and Stripe — to take payment.
• Google — only if you choose “Continue with Google”.
• Our hosting provider — our servers are located in the European Union (Germany), which offers data protection comparable to Kenya's.
• Couriers — your name, phone and delivery address, to deliver your order.

We may also disclose data where Kenyan law requires it.

Cookies & Browser Storage

We use a small number of essential cookies: one to keep you signed in, and one to secure Google sign-in. Your bag is saved in your browser so it survives a page refresh. We do not currently use advertising cookies. If we add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

How Long We Keep It

Account details are kept while your account is open. Order and payment records are kept for at least five years to meet Kenyan tax requirements. Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Your Rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you can:

• be informed of how your data is used;
• access the personal data we hold about you;
• ask us to correct inaccurate data, or delete data we no longer need;
• object to processing, including all direct marketing;
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.

Email info@laptopcare.co.ke to exercise any of these. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (odpc.go.ke).

Security

Traffic to the site is encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and access to customer data is limited to the people who need it to run the shop.

Children

Our shop is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
